The Website “Proposal”

The wonders of the Internet are far branching out to the cosmopolitan era of today. Email, instant messaging, video calls, social networking are just a few of the tons of possibilities that the Internet offers. We have all heard about couples getting together through social networking sites, or dating sites that seek to matchmake lovebirds. However, have you heard about a marriage proposal made over a website?

In US, a guy named Scott knew that his girlfriend Leslie frequents a popular community website called CafeMom. He had an idea to liase with the management of the site to craft his very own proposal idea. Here’s what he wrote:

“I have a dilemma, and I was hoping your staff might be willing to accommodate a unique request for a one-of-a-kind feature. My girlfriend is a regular user of your site, spending hours of her time every day on the Answers section. I recently purchased a ring, and I am planning to propose to her. I would like to ask if you will work with me to create a memorable experience for her.

“I understand that you have ‘Achievement Awards’, which she strives to collect, and checks on a regular basis. I was thinking of a ‘Will You Marry Me’ achievement that I might be able to activate from a unique URL at any given time.

I would greatly appreciate any input you might have. If this idea is not possible, or if you have other ideas that might make this a special occasion for her, please contact me to further discuss the options.”

With the help and facilitation of CafeMom’s management, they integrated a pop-up proposal message as a form of “achievement award”. Here’s the video to show how it all looked like:

Well, it certainly seems that the Internet can be a good platform for surprises. Technology or not, originality might be a plus, but winning a woman’s heart is all about sincerity and effort. Don’t you agree, ladies?
