FAA approves flying car
Move over, F1. This is the car some of us can dream of and drive one, if the local authorities approves it as a mode of transport.
The two-seater vehicle uses its front-wheel drive on roads at ordinary highway speeds. But once it arrives at an adequate take off spot, it can extend its wings, take off and glide through the sky at 115 mph (185 kph).
According to the creators, 70 people have ordered the Transition (a rather apt name for a dual-purpose vehicle) and have placed US$10,000 deposit on each order. It is expected to retail for just US$194,000 and be delivered by the end of next year.
And you thought you wouldn’t see flying cars like the Jetsons this decade? Well, this could be the next big technological advancement – if there is enough straight roads for landing and takeoff. Imagine beating – or rather flying over – a red light. Would you get a ticket for doing that?
