The Garden City in 2015

Trivia: What is the one other thing we need for survival, other than air, food and water?

Answer: Technology (No prize in case you got this correct!)

Imagine a world where technology permeates our everyday life. Our each and every move is facilitated by technology in “Big Brother” style, yet as essential as the air we breathe and the food we eat, so to speak. Can that be happening? Why, take a look around you and you would know that this is not just a mere hypothesis, but something that is entirely possible.

In an era already proliferated by gizmos and gadgets that are supposed to bring convenience to our way of communication and living, it is not hard to imagine what the future will turn out to be like. If you find it increasingly difficult and unbearable to leave home without your mobile phone, you are probably just one of the millions of people whose life is driven by technology (and probably couldn’t live without it).

As we greet the future with bright optimism, let’s take a look at the following video which portrays how life for the ordinary folks will be in Singapore in 2015.

Are  the technological devices and capabilities shown possible? Can you actually talk to someone on your watch? How about wearing a pair of “Cyclops” shades and virtually seeing the person you are talking to right in front of your eyes? Oh, and don’t forget to look out for the cool new version of the “iPad”. See how tech-savvy taxi drivers and school children are to use technology for work and for school. Well, that’s not too much of a surprise nowadays. But you may be amazed by the possibilities future technological innovations can do. The possibilities are, in a word, endless.

No worries, you are free to open your mouth and gape in awe (or in disbelief). We already did.
